1. What is paintless dent removal?
Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) is the art of
removing dings and dents from vehicles requiring the technician to get behind the damaged panel and, with a range of metal
rods, gently and patiently massaging the dent out to its original form.
2. What kind of dents can be fixed?
95% of small dings
(quarter size or smaller) can be repaired to look perfect or near perfect. Occasionally, a ding will be in an inaccessible
position on the car or the metal is stretched too far to ever work it back to its original form. The larger the dent the less
likely it can be repaired. However, dents as large as a basketball can be repaired assuming the metal in not wrinkled, the
paint isn’t too damaged and it is in a decent location where access is possible.
3. Will my dents be completely gone? Small dings will usually come out perfect whereas large
dents will usually range between 90 to 100% depending on the size and location. Sometimes a dent on the lower part of a panel
will look great even if only 85 to 90% is achievable. As owner and operator of The New Look, I guarantee all my work and you
will be informed in advance what your dent will look like upon completion.
4. Will my dents come back? No, absolutely not. Once the metal is shaped back to its
original form it is permanent.
5. Will my paint be damaged in the process? No. Paint technology is improving every year. As long as
the dent is removed properly, slowly and gently your factory paint will stay intact.
6. Can I remove dings myself? Realistically no. There are “do it yourself ding remover” ads on TV where
they demonstrate how to pull a dent out from the outside using glue. This is not recommended. You may get lucky and get some
improvement, but you can also make matters worse. These commercials create an illusion of how dents are removed. Remember
this; DENTS DON’T POP OUT! They need to be worked out slowly. These commercials rank right up there with the fitness
commercials that say you can lose 10 pound in 10 days by strapping something on your belly while you watch TV.
7. Will you have to drill to access my dent? The majority of dings can be removed without drilling. With larger dents all the necessary steps will be taken to
avoid drilling, but the larger the dent the more likely drilling will be necessary. If properly done drilling is part of the
business. However, each client will be informed in advance of his or her options and any hole drilled will be properly plugged
and rust proofed.
